About Plainhub
Runway is the number that decides whether a startup lives. We built Plainhub so founders stop guessing it.
Why Plainhub exists
Ask a founder how long their company has left and most go quiet. Not because they do not care about the number, but because they are not sure of it. Runway is the most consequential figure in an early business, and it usually lives in a spreadsheet that stopped being true weeks ago.
The tools that should answer it do not. Accounting software records the past in perfect detail and says nothing about the future. Bank-connected apps want access to your accounts and still leave you to work out the one number that matters. A spreadsheet is honest the day you build it and quietly wrong after that.
Plainhub closes that gap. You record what happens in the business as it happens, in plain language, and your runway, burn and revenue stay current. There is no model to maintain and no bank to connect. The number that decides whether your company survives should be one you can see at any moment, not one you rebuild the night before a board meeting.
What Plainhub is not
It is not accounting software. It will not file your taxes, chase your invoices or close your books.
It never connects to your bank. No logins, no statement uploads, no imports. You record the handful of events that actually move the number, which is faster and keeps your accounts your own.
And it is not a forecasting suite for a finance team. It answers a founder’s question, how long you have and what changes it, and leaves the heavy modelling to the people who do that full time.
How we write about money
The blog is written for founders, not accountants. Every guide gives you the formula, a worked example with real numbers, and the mistake that catches people out.
Our calculators use the same definitions the product calculates with, so the burn rate calculator, the cash runway calculator and the MRR calculator agree with the articles that explain them.
Plainhub is a modelling tool, not a licensed adviser. The guides explain how these metrics work so you can run your own numbers. They are not personalised financial, tax or investment advice.
Try it before you sign up
The live demo runs on a sample company, so you can click through the whole product before you create anything. When you want your own numbers kept live, that takes about a minute.
